29 Jan Pet Vitamin and Mineral Supplement – The Story of Petvim

On 15 September, 2003 I bought my beloved dog HUGO home for the first time. A 10-week-old French Bulldog, he was and is the love of my life.

Almost 6 months ago we celebrated Hugo’s 13th birthday. Most French Bulldogs live to around ten years old, often with health issues. So while it is a great achievement that Hugo is now thirteen, it is even more remarkable that he is very healthy and VERY much alive.  I am proud to say Hugo is now AUSTRALIA’S OLDEST LIVING FRENCH BULLDOG.

Over three years earlier, (Saturday, 25 January 2014), Hugo was out in the garden at our home in South Brisbane, Australia. Suddenly I heard a yelp and ran outside to find that he had collapsed on the lawn. He was alive, but not really moving and looked extremely distressed. As you can imagine, I was really distraught but deliberately stayed calm, so that I would not panic him. I carried him inside and he started to slowly move but his breathing sounded strange. He definitely didn’t look or sound right.  It was the Saturday morning of a long weekend, so I decided that it was best to take him to my local Vet before they closed for the next two days.  

At the Veterinary Surgery, I thought they would just give him some medications and we’d be on our way. Sadly this was not the case. After a brief examination, Hugo was given a diuretic and put on oxygen. The Vet said that he was having acute heart failure and was certain to pass away that day, or if not the next. She told me that the best thing for him would be to euthanize him. I was hysterical! Both the Vet and the Veterinary Nurse begged me to do the, ‘right thing’, and have him put to sleep, right then and there. I was not expecting this at all; I was in shock and could not stop crying.

Against their wishes I took him home, I was not ready for Hugo to leave me. There was no way I was going to lose my little baby. Yes, he was sick, but I would make him better, because, after all, I was his Mother!

It was summer in Brisbane and it was very, very hot and Hugo was weak and dehydrated. I knew he would die if I did not hydrate him and give him sustenance. I am very knowledgeable on what is best for humans in this position and have a passion for natural health, vitamins and superfood supplements.

I started creating my formula and within three days of trialling, incredibly Hugo was running around and playing with his ball. With daily use he got better and better.
